Nursery - 2 1/2 & 3 years old

Our Nursery Class is perfect for children just starting school. A play-based curriculum lets children explore various interest areas including art, literature, blocks, sand and water play, music, and dress-up.

In the Nursery classroom students can be found listening to a story, or talking about our current weather or what we see happening in our environment seasonally.  You will see the students participating in various center activities like dramatic play, counting and sorting, and block building. Children may be listening, sharing, dancing, singing, painting, or coloring.

Our experienced staff ease transitions from home to school, help students gain self help skills and build the foundation for group cooperation.

Parents receive monthly newsletters from their classroom teacher.

There are a number of factors that contribute to a child’s readiness to use the toilet independently, including physical development, temperament, and psychological comfort.  Children do not have to be toilet-trained to attend Cornerstone School in our Nursery Class.

Students in the Nursery class use the resources our vibrant community has to offer to enhance the curriculum by going on several field trips throughout the year. These include local walking trips as well as trips off campus. Our trips include visits to the library, fire station, and park.

All of our teachers keep monthly anecdotal records and work sample portfolios on every student. Parent teacher conferences are held twice a year where teacher provide detailed information regarding a students development.
